Rober Dyke - Animation Reel 2017

This demo reel was really well put together. The music was not distracting at all and the flow of the video was very smooth. He showed a wide variety of his work specifically for animation and editing. The animation was very smooth and fit the characters they were made for very well. The dinosaur, his best work, was very realistic when it moved around and it showed the limits of its movement well. The fight scenes also showed a wide array of movement for their particular game from different angles to show there were no hidden mistakes. Overall this a great reel for someone looking for an animation expert.

Nathaniel Hearns Character Animation Reel

A character animation reel by someone I follow on YouTube.

While I don't think he starts with his best work, I do think this accurately shows the quality of his animation. There is also a lot of emphasis on animating more fast paced action scenes than more subtle movements. While probably not a detriment, it might not be the most accurate depiction of his range.

Joanna Davidovich 2016 Demo Reel

I thought that this demo reel was well put together. It has a charming opening and ending animation to represent creator. It showcases a diverse range of styles and works from various media which is beneficial to have in a demo reel. On top of that, the creator also put down what she did for each piece in the description of the video. Overall, you can see the effort that was put into this throughout the whole reel.

This demo reel was straightforward but lacks context on what he did. I think adding short descriptions in the video would help the audience understand his work. I liked how he portrayed characters in both first-person and third-person viewpoint. I do appreciate his work divided into two parts: character movements and highlight intros. None of the models showcased in the demo reel stood out as the strongest work.

I thought this demo reel had some good models, but dragged on too long with each model. To me, he didn't have enough footage and/or models to show. I would have liked to have seen some progression footage on the models, including the models before they were textured, and maybe a poly count. I also thought the text naming each model before showing it was too small. I think he sucessfully started the reel with his best model, the dragon.
