Concept Art and Brainstorming Things

Hey guys, Alyssa here to talk about a few things and show what I've been working on for the class!

First of all, I've completed some concept works for what I've been working on for the VR project. I went into this thinking at first that I knew what I was going to do, but then I realize that I wanted to save that concept.... to maybe be used at a future time. I'll elaborate later in this post.

After starting back at a perpetual square one, I decided on something. What if... there was a hidden hideaway of valuables for some not-so-nice noble magical being that could fly somewhere on a snowy mountain?

This sounded fun to do, you would be right on the ledge between the exterior on the mountain range (I had this idea before we did the mountain demonstration I swear), and the interior which would have a variety of trinkets inside of it. This would be a perfect way to blend in both the natural and the man(?)made elements to fulfill the requirement. I was also considering something a bit interesting. Blizzard perhaps as one of the two conditions? Am I being too ambitious with this weather condition? Maybe, but if there's a way that I could do that, I would like to see it.

Before I wrap up this blog post, I'd like to leave on a funny story. Before the semester began, I took a brief look at the Canvas page, and I saw that the titles for the types of projects we're going to do were on there. One of the projects was, well, the Film Noir project, yet it didn't have any context for it yet of course. I now realized that it was Andy and their kitchen shenanigans, yet back then, my gears started turning. And I do mean it as a pun because I was starting to come up with a Film Noir concept featuring robots. Something about their automated voices making it difficult to convey their emotions and a bar called the Flash Dive (wow, I'm being fruitful on the puns today).

It's still in its most basic thoughts but even if it isn't an idea that doesn't get off the ground here, I still want to do something with it at some point. At the end though it is still just the beginning of the semester, and maybe I or someone else may come up with a different or better concept.

Either way, I'm likely going to make trench-coat robots at some point in the future, even if it's not for a specific Monmouth project.

Until next time, Alyssa out!

Augmented Reality Campus Map

Sierra, now a Junior, worked on this last Spring, and created a model of Wilson Hall

This year another group of CS students will continue work on the project, using an Agile process, meaning they will start actual production almost immediately.

Who would like to replicate some more campus buildings, so the map will look better?

Augenkitzel

After introducing Prof. DiMatio to VR, for which we wish to coin the term "Faux Reality", or FR, though this seems to already be in use for something else, I played in Tilt Brush a bit and created this piece of Eye Candy:

Before I was talked into adding the fire breath it looked like this:

Adobe MAX 2016-We may not have gotten a cool gift but...

So as a lot of you know, and if you didn't know ,well now you do, a group of Monmouth students, from the Monmouth Review club, went to Adobe MAX this year. While we were there Cut&Paste a company that provides professionals the opportunity to make new connections, gain exposure, and learn from one another, hosted a Virtual Reality drawing competition. Above is my entry and below is what I won.
